Ahead and Light

In the boat gliding; anticipated, to an unknown determination.

We are bouncing back and what’s next with no precipitation.

There my chest was booming.

I’ll give in to blue skies, not a cloud mass in sight.

With thoughtful gaze awhile, receptive eyes ahead and light.

Pause and sit to soak up what’s around; nothing glooming.

Sunbursts create a tapestry and warm the sweated ground.

The still am I, in comfort there, in nature’s bounty out to greet.

My breath suddenly slows when a gift lands at my feet.

I still myself, to keep disturbance kept; sure not to call.

A Kingfisher before me, eyes fixed on his prey; my heart lept.

His poise so skilled, so gracious, I’m in awe.

His stature in royal blue and orange, a dart for his menu fresh raw.

Like lightning flashing into the rippled lagoon, his skill has me hooked

This wondrous vision so true to his being, trailing as I looked.

A moment in time, this picture sets my mind onto the heaven’shigher still.

To imagine a moment, through his eyes before; the significance of his will.

Holding my gaze; the conjure dreams of a freedom so rare.

A vision I revel in the moment; I was there.

I’ll give in to blue skies, not a cloud mass in sight.

With thoughtful gaze awhile, receptive eyes ahead and light.
