New Years 2016

There are the sea walls, I see
alining much of the estuary,
this is the Severn shoreline,
a bridge built sure for safety.

Within these sea walls
they are grassed with earth
banking along the way
through port and town.

There is no place for walking,
only bird and tide watching,
where the Welsh mud flats forever
access the foreshores of this land;
never stopping even at its highest tide.

It is about flooding low
lying its surrounding land,
marking the upper limits
of intertidal areas forming.

The river; an immediate landward flow
this Severn bridge is our keep
and a safe passage to and fro
Welcoming 2016 as we come and go.

Much love to all; family and friends
Happy New Year and Welcome 2016.
