Welsh Legends: Sir Jack Daniels

History: Jack Daniel

Jack Daniel was a legend. Born Welsh, an immigrant from Wales to the USA. In 1866 he created the whiskey named after him, Jack Daniels, which the company claims being the best-seller in the world.

On October 10, 1911 Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel, founder of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey distillery, spoke his dying words,

“One last drink, please”.  Words only a true Welshman could say upon their deathbed…

Jack Daniel’s death came as a consequence of frustratingly kicking his safe after forgetting his combination.

His toe became injured and subsequently infected, causing septicemia, or “blood poisoning”, which ultimately killed him.
