Sacred Places

There are places where my mind continues to drift; its in your direction, I think it’s that place where my soul falls into yours;

Maybe I just love being here with you; I don’t know how to describe it really,

But when there are no words it’s just a feeling too and Maybe I can only tell you how much I feel it.

Maybe it is truly a sacred place.

The elephant is revered in Sri Lanka because it was one of their elephants who reverently carried “Buddha” the prophet, to his final resting place. The significance is that these elephants are the ancestors of that elephants who carried him.

Pinawalla Elephant Orphanage- Sri Lanka

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is situated northwest between the present capital Colombo and the ancient royal residence Kandy in the hills of central Sri Lanka.

It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka wildlife department in a 25 acre coconut property near the Maha Oya river.

The orphanage was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned Elephants found in the jungle. As of 2003, there were 65 elephants.

Today there are 130.
