Hopeful Expat’s Like Me

While it’s my wish to return to Wales
I’m just still a visitor on beautiful Britain’s land
While clinging on, some Welsh people ask,
“Are you really from Texas?”
They say I am the first American
The first they ever met.
Americans are too young to understand…
But as I become older,
Things seem to become a bit more foreign;
I need to see the Mother land;
Are you still there, I hope;
My ancestors were born there,
Hopefuls like me, full of Expatriate dreams
And in the United Kingdom, I heard them sing,
“God save the Queen, and I sung along.
It’s just that I’m not quite there yet,
But I’m still hopeful.
